The Boreal Digital SKope, with Motic Images
2000 software, would be a welcome addition
to any home or classroom laboratory. Just
plug the SKope into your computer through
the supplied USB cable and you are off and
recording. The captured images can be
presented directly through your computer
screen with very little, if any, loss in
resolution as compared with looking directly
through the eyepiece. The Motic Images 2000
software is intuitive and easy to use, yet
powerful. And where questions do arise, a
concise, well written, and screen-shot laden
quickstart guide will help you solve them.
Science Kit & Boreal Laboratories also
offers a graduated mechanical stage. Using a
mechanical stage will make the manipulation
of the slide/image a much easier and
smoother task and is therefore highly
recommended for use with the Borea Digital
SKope.
Digital microscopy is more than just a 'gee
whiz' use of technology. The Boreal Digital
SKope can be a valuable teaching tool for
leading microscopic laboratory
investigations, creating presentations using
the actual shots from your microscope, and
documenting your microscopic discoveries
clearly without relying upon your artistry!
This product offers an accessible, affordabe,
and top quality option for your home or
classroom laboratory. However, acadmic and
industrial researchers could also find
utility in the Boreal Digital SKope as a low
cost method to create graphics for
presentations and papers.
The Boreal Digital SKope is a 'Scientopica
Select Product' due to its ease of use,
quality of image capture, affordability, and
potential utility.

Product Description from Science Kit &
Boreal Laboratories
Digital Imaging Technology made Affordable!
Our Boreal Digital Microscopes feature the
USB “plug and play” computer connection —
simply plug them in, turn them on and large,
full-color video of the specimen is
delivered directly to your computer monitor
so the entire class can see. The Boreal
Digital SKope is mounted on our best-selling
55841-21 Boreal SKope. It comes with 4x,
10x, and 40x objectives and an adjustable
10x eyepiece. The Inclined Stereoscope model
(recommended for elementary student use) has
all the same features but with 1x and 3x
objectives and adjustable 10x eyepieces.
Both models have a built-in CCD camera that
provides clear, sharp images up to 316,000
pixels. Both models ship with Motic Images
2000 - powerful, user-friendly image
manipulation software on CD-ROM that allows
you to capture and save images of specimens
to your hard drive; manipulate images, and
print images out to use as student review
sheets. You can accurately measure length
and area of microscopic features of
specimens with the measure function, create
multimedia science presentations and “time
lapse” over-views of specimen development,
growth and movement; and more. We recommend
using our Mechanical Stage (55842-00) with
the Boreal Digital SKope for easier viewing
of specimens at higher magnifications. Both
models come with our own set-up and
operation manual that explains how to get
started and how to get the most out of your
Digital Microscope. Minimum requirements:
Win: Windows 98 or 2000, Pentium 200MHz, 64
MB RAM, 200 MB available on hard drive,
sound card (optional) and CD-ROM drive.
